As a kid, Ann rode her horse down a gravel road called “Ashworth” from a Waukee pasture to dad’s garage in West Des Moines. For a break, she stopped near an old farmhouse with big shade trees of oak and maple. Many years later Ann found her way back. And while the farmhouse and cornfields were long gone, the trees were still there, waiting. Thanks to MKMH, Ann and husband Dennis found the perfect place to build their modern house on the prairie.
Large windows welcome light, rustic barn doors provide
welcoming entrances, wide wooden beams create dramatic dimension. Each textile,
material and piece of hardware was creatively and carefully curated to recall a
simpler time on the prairie.
Childhood dreams, trees and all, became the foundation for a custom home created by MKMH. Clean and white on the inside, it shows off their passion for bright colors reflected in artwork and modern furniture. From the sleek, open floor plan inside, they can look out any window and see the beautiful natural design Ann loved so long ago. MKMH makes dreams come true.
